Liberty spends as much of her days as she can get away with in the barn these days. She had to write a report for her Spanish class on her family. Aggie and SoDak made the report, front and center. Blaine’s parents and one of his sisters visited this past weekend. They stayed in a […]
Mercies.
Eleven. Eleven gallons of milk in eight days. It’s a new level of consumption for us. Blaine’s first comment: “Still not quite worth getting a cow.” Ugh. Perfect. I’m not even sure. Add in the four pounds of butter and the two or three pounds of butter also consumed during that time and we might […]
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! It’s been a fun week of no school and Blaine home from work. All in all, quite lovely. It snowed last weekend and left us with a white Christmas. It’s since melted, but the kids had a blast in it until then. Christmas Day was a blast. We opened gifts, made a big […]
Christmas Preparations
The days leading up to Christmas always feel strange in Missouri. It feels more like fall, with warm days and cool nights. No snow. All that is about to change, and my kids are chomping at the bit at the thought of a white Christmas. I am done shopping. Finally! The last order arrives tomorrow. […]
Aquarium x 11.
I took eleven children to the aquarium. And they all survived. The best part was handing over my pass. “How many adults?” “One.” “How many children?” “Eleven.” Y’all, the lady counted the kids to be sure. Umm… lady, you better hope I know how many I have with me! I’m headed into the recesses of […]
Photo booth fail.
The difference between five kids and eight: I took this photo Saturday morning. I took five takes in all. All were good. Everyone was looking. Almost all of the photos had everyone smiling. The rest of the kids joined us. I took another try at the family photo. I took 42 photos of the eight. […]
Aggie.
Aggie had a mini spa day today. She had her shoes removed and hooves trimmed. She stood like a champ. The farrier and friend who trimmed her was complimentary. He thinks she’s not fifteen yet, sound and healthy. I’m glad… I was feeling pretty clueless trying to buy one! We got minimal school done. As expected. […]
Meet Aggie.
So last night… We went to look at a horse for the kids for Christmas. We loved her. And the people who were selling her, having never met us or even knowing our names, I realized in hindsight, agreed to let us borrow their horse trailer, take her home that night, and return the trailer […]
The Museum, the Lost Binky, and Unappetizing Appetizers
Last week, I turned 34. We celebrated with a trip to the local wildlife museum. Today, I took three of my girls and two of their friends back to see more. It was just so cool. We bought a year pass. We’ll be back. Blaine’s had a few days off lately. He’s done exciting things […]
Things I never thought I’d have to say #2,462.
“What’s all over your face?” “We we’re hiding for hide and seek. We hid in the garbage burn barrel.” Really?! Apparently my shock was showing. “It’s bath night anyway, Mom. We need showers before church anyway.” Showers that shall commence immediately, dear sons. Now. Soot is one thing. But garbage soot is quite another. Gross!
