Troublemaker #1 & #2

July 29, 2017 by Adrienne

A week has passed since Liberty and Ruby left. Eden, Sterling, and Charlotte are back into the swing of things, though there were some frustrating moments with children who had thoroughly enjoyed their vacation and forgot what real life is like.

This dear boy shrieked and did his best to jump up and down when he saw me cutting up a watermelon. Apparently the pieces I handed to him were not enough, because he went in to help himself.

Beckett had quite the week. Blaine discovered this at about 9:30 Tuesday night.

No. No no. I wanted a German Shepherd for years. It took much time to convince my husband. It took time to find one we could afford. (Breeders sell them upwards up $1,000!) I finally got one. She's perfect. Her personality is exactly what I wanted. Blaine is skeptical she's purebred, but regardless, I love her. And then. Tuesday night Blaine walked into the shop and there sat a bar of rat poison, knocked off its shelf, chewed upon, and limited options of who it could have been. The cat, a wild animal, or Beckett were our only options. And so, Beckett met the vet. I got to do a walk of shame and take her in and hope they could save her. She had no symptoms. I don't know for sure it was her. But… who else? And I'm not going to risk it! So activated charcoal that night, and spending the next day at the vet receiving vitamin k, coming home with more, and she seems to be fine. So far, so good. They said they'd never had a dog come in not yet showing symptoms that they hadn't saved. Encouraging words. She was supposed to get her rabies vaccine and chipped the next day. I didn't want to say it, but they figured out what I meant anyway. We postponed that for a week and a half to be sure she was going to survive her shenanigans.

This dear boy loves cupcakes.
Finally, my sewing projects for the week. A doll carrier and skirt for a friend's daughter. Next up: pj pants for Pierce, Elliot, and Liberty. They raided the clearance rack at Hobby Lobby for fabric for new ones after Elliot inherited a pair Pierce loved. He was promised a new pair. Then… everyone needed a pair.

Oh… but my sewing machine pedal got a new cord last week. Beckett shenanigans. Again. Teething puppy is trying my patience.
