Sterling’s Gentle Reminder

September 19, 2014 by Adrienne

Sterling loves to write notes. I get several every day. They usually say I’m the best mom ever. Sometimes they ask for something specific for supper. It’s his favorite method of communication… he’ll spend ten minutes writing a note instead of ten seconds saying it aloud. Who knows why?

Sterling handed Blaine this note this morning. It reads:

“to Daddy

I love you. You are the best daddy ever. I realized you didn’t put holes in the bookshelf but you can do it today. :)”

In other words, “Get on it, Dad. I asked once. You’re slow. You’ve been reminded.”

I laughed so hard. It embarrassed Sterling – he didn’t get what was funny.

Sterling is not a procrastinator. He’s like his father in so many ways… but this, he gets from me. I’m so proud.

What a sweetheart. I’d save every note from that little hand.

Remember this when he is a teenager. Words of praise is probably his love language!
