Sterling has been bow hunting since the season opened, and when youth weekend opened, he took Pierce.
Sterling got two nice does this year so far. We’ve really enjoyed the meat. He’s gone hunting many nights/mornings since and is attempting to fill the freezer. I keep encouraging him to get the does – they taste better! But it’s rubbing him a smidge raw that he hunted day after day, but when he took Eden hunting years back, she got a nice buck. She could care less about hunting, but she went and won. He’s gone dozens and dozens of times since. He’s gotten us a lot of meat. Some spike bucks, lots of does, and one buck with a broken lopsided antler. But when he took Pierce hunting – Pierce’s first time ever – Pierce got a big buck.
So now… Sterling is on a mission. Either way, I get a freezer full of red meat that we really enjoy. Who’s winning now?!
I am. Although when I found out that the boiled/hydro-dipped painted skull started stinking up the boys’ room, then they put it in the laundry room to avoid the smell… and Blaine found maggots on the dryer under the skull – well, we had words. The boys must’ve missed something in the skull somewhere but dude. I think we could have handled that better?
But isn’t it pretty?! And now maggot free…
