And… I missed February entirely. Can I blame the short month? Yeah. I know. Sad.
Still. Eden turned 17 on February 1. I can’t believe the little girl who embarrassed me everywhere we went as a toddler is nearly full grown. She peed in the car cart at the grocery store, leaving a trail as I pushed her through the checkout. She told a lady at church she had big boobs. She asked at that same church if communion was off limits for her because it was alcohol. Loud. (It wasn’t alcohol and it was a very dry congregation.) She made friends everywhere she went. Sang as she worked. “Nursed” her babies with no care for modesty in public. Called people out for their sins, real or perceived. Shared the gospel with everyone. Memorized scripture within seconds. Asked all the embarrassing questions.
Loved so, so well. Left messes in her wake.
Cooks a mean meal. Still sings everywhere she goes. Still shares the gospel. Still leaves messes in her wake. Still loves so well. Doesn’t say the embarrassing very often anymore. Still makes friends everywhere she goes.
Eden is about to finish high school, graduating a year early. The list of jobs/degrees she doesn’t want might be shorter than the ones she does want. Whatever she chooses, she’ll go far.
I hope the last year of her childhood is wonderful. I’m so thankful to be her momma.
