Leather.

December 27, 2020 by Adrienne

For my birthday in November, Blaine gave me a gift card to the leather company. For a little while, I ignored it. I finally watched enough videos to figure out what I needed to hand sew leather, bought a leather purse sewing pattern, and deliberated a bit longer.

One afternoon I spent two hours picking the brains of the people in the leather store, and came home with the supplies I needed. I stared at it a bit longer. Intimidated, much? Yes.

I finally got it all cut out, and over the course of a few days, worked on sewing it. It’s rather cathartic, but my hands got super sore too. I haven’t decided if this is a long term hobby or not, but after a trip back to the leather company yesterday to get new rivets when the ones I originally bought based on pattern recommendations were too short… something I finally figured out after much frustration, I finished yesterday. I think I love it. It’s embarrassingly so not perfect, but it’s prettier than any other purse I’ve owned anyway. I have scrap bags full of leather they gave away with each purchase to learn small projects. I’m thinking moccasins for Creed, or a wallet. We’ll see.

I just noticed I did not get the post of Creed at 6 months nor the Hunters one. So crazy how this has happened one other time as well. Glad I looked back to see if I had missed any.
