I can’t make this stuff up.

September 20, 2019 by Adrienne

We started school and free time for writing, breathing, and laundry vanished.

Yeah. Ruby caught the laundry up finally yesterday. I folded, she washed and dried, kids all put away. I folded about eight loads two days in a row. Today: two loads and done. It’s all put away and everything. I think that’s the first time all month.

I have the kids the option to go to the zoo or chill at home today. School is wrapped up for the week and we finally found free hours. They almost all picked to play in the woods. Crazy children.

I got a new piano! Mine was breaking more and more and a huge percentage of keys no longer worked. It wasn’t worth fixing. I’m thrilled my new to me (107 years old!) piano. It’s perfect.

I bought 17 loaves of bread yesterday. The salvage grocer had fancy breads for $1 a loaf. The lady looked at me like I was bonkers. I’ll be lucky if it lasts two weeks. Betting on one week. Note to self: take children with for large shopping trips. Less strange looks that way.

We’ve been working on our camper. The “fixed” soft spot the guy told us about was a total lie. It grew and another joined it. The floor was rotted and caving in. Mold grew. Walls warped. Months later of working on it off and on, and we haven’t camped since May and it’s not done. Blaine’s palm is currently super glued together after an encounter with a modified (ie. super sharp) metal bracket.  We have a birthday party/campout tomorrow night. Frantic pull to finish. There was a board through the entire front section, lifting the camper off the floor boards so they can be replaced. This morning those boards collapsed. They fell onto a can of Great Stuff spray foam. Foam sprayed EVERYWHERE. We were frantically taking acetone to the aluminum siding, staring in disbelief at the foam that went into the doorway of he camper, all over tools and everything in sight. It was a scene from a fiction book. You know the part, when you think they should have laid off the drama just a smidge, because nothing goes THAT bad. I couldn’t make this stuff up.

I took that after we cleaned up the bulk of it. The rest is drying and Blaine mentioned grinding it off the stairs.

We cant have anything nice. I always thought it was because of kids but this had nothing to do with them. Bizarre.
