“Stellan, can you dance?”
”No. I have clothes on.”
”You can’t dance with clothes on?”
”No!”
He looked at me like I had three heads. I learn something new every day. He is entirely comfy with running through a room without clothes in a mad dash from the laundry room to his dresser… but dancing?
We watched Funniest Home Videos tonight. A little girl danced to show off and danced her way backwards into a pool. Blaine comments that that is why you ought not be trying to show off. Elliot catches my glance from the corner of my eye. She’s trying to dance like the little girl in the pool. And… yeah. She’s a fun one.
The goats have officially figured out how to climb every fence we build. They are in a fence made of cattle panels – fence panels that are almost as tall as I am. The goats just jump them. I need an electric fencer. Strip up a hot wire around the top. Then I want to be a fly on the wall when Mr. Abram decides to scale that fence.
Stellan got a teepee for Christmas. He’s slept in it every night since. I put the little pack and play mattress in there and he has his own private suite. I think Sterling is jealous of Stellan’s privacy.
Christmas week: Sterling wore a pair of brand new leather work gloves clean through in multiple places. But the wood pile is stacked and split and beautiful. The horse stall has gravel in a first step towards proper drainage because every time it rains that whole end of the barn turns into a river. My kitchen has been mopped twice. We tried lava cakes. One led to the mopping of the floor… after I cleaned up glass. Instant Pot fail… sort of. They were delicious in the end. Eden made homemade apple cider, starting with fresh apples. Charlotte sewed on my sewing machine for her first time and made two headbands. I got a haircut. I made one of those parenting blunders I’ll laugh about one day but I’m not prepared to do that quite yet. But everyone lived, and is without injury. I had lunch with a friend I haven’t seen in ages. I had the worst kidney infection I’ve ever experienced. I got my new van all decked out in decals. And my vans – both of them – now have impressively bright LED reverse lights. One even got a hand wash/wax job that has it sparkly and clean – on the outside at least.
Tomorrow Blaine goes back to work and we get back to school work. Taking time off for the trip to Virginia and then Christmas has us needing to get back to it or go very late into spring. Pray for me. It could be an interesting day.

At least you all never have a dull moment. You make many memories together. That is a treasure some people will never know. I know it gets hectic at times but that is life.
So you got a new van. That is wonderful! So is that parenting blunder going to be kept a secret or are you going to share? Haha!
As long as Stellan dances at home I guess he is safe without clothes on. Hehe!!
May you all have a very good 2019.

I will share it at some point. The ramifications of what could have been scared the life out of me.

Sorry to hear about the kidney infection. I think I started to get a bladder infection back in the fall and my mom quickly ordered me to drink water only and cranberry juice. Thankfully, it worked but she sure scared me with her telling of the pain she experienced when she had to be hospitalized with the kidney infection. Not fun but hopefully you’re out of the woods with that one.
!! Here’s to your health and prosperity!! Happy 2019!!

A kidney infection during my pregnancies with both Pierce and Elliot changed the course of things, and threatened Elliot’s life. Nothing to mess around with! This time around, it was just pain and not a baby’s life on the line, and meds cured it quickly, thankfully. Happy 2019!
