Today, I rotor tilled the garden. Finally. Finally as in it got done… and finally as in I did it myself for the first time, I suppose. I am not impressed with Missouri soil. I shan’t be volunteering for this task again.
Blaine is gone for work through the weekend, we finally have enough horse manure on the garden to consider it fertilized, and plants were dying. I got a crash course from Blaine on tiller usage and today, I jumped in. I tilled it three times, sweat more than can possibly be considered ladylike, and then we planted it. 1500 square feet of garden, in. I have plants leftover. And I have no idea where the cucumbers are going to go. But if all the peppers produce well, we’ll have nary a hankering for a cucumber. Sixty-four pepper plants; y’all. Why?! We really need to practice more moderation. Or something. We also planted eight hills of squash, eight okra plants, eight feet of radishes, and 32 tomato plants. Potatoes and herbs I’d already planted.
My Fitbit racked up over 19,000 steps. I. Am. Tired. And so glad that is done. I’m certain it doesn’t look like Blaine would have chosen. But I tried. And it all can grow now. It’s even supposed to rain tonight. Perfect.

64 peppers??? Are you suppling every Mexican restaurant in the state? Haha! We had maybe 6 plants last year and I give away and give away. Still had some to ruin. Ours was all jalepenos. The year before Dean planted bell pepper and jalepenos. I made lots of pepper sauce that year. Stuffed some with cheese and rolled in bacon. You should have enough squash for your neighbors too. Ha!
If we keep getting rain like we have had this week we won’t have anything. It will rot.
I can’t imagine myself running a tiller. You are one smart woman.
