We came home from SD with our trailer full of furniture from my grandparents. We came with three dressers, an old awesome chest, a big book shelf. My dad made me a pan rack for my birthday, so that came too.
It’s everywhere. Every person except Liberty and Ellie got a new dresser. Charlotte and Eden have been using milk crates and both lack organizational skills in a massive way. We found dirty clothes stashed behind them they hadn’t seen all year. I’m clearly failing. The house is a disaster. The pan rack is on the kitchen table. The laundry is backed up big time. All the laundry baskets (14 of them!) are full of clothes and books to donate.
I might be panicking a little.
Add to all this that I’m 29½ weeks pregnant, Pierce and Ellie are recovering from strep and just want to be held and meltdowns are plentiful, school needs to happen today, and Blaine’s working a super long day, having left at 5ish am and won’t be home until who knows when and I might just join Ellie and Pierce in their meltdowns.
About this time I realize I haven’t blogged in a while so I did the reasonable thing and pulled out my phone for some respite. Definitely the correct choice, right?!
Ugh. Goal for the day: nothing extra in the living room. Clean bedrooms. Bonus: Blaine and my dressers are done, that room is clean. I’m three loads deep on laundry, and I washed the dishes once today already. Sterling and Pierce’s dresser is finished, and their room is clean.
Survival might be all we manage today. Just… Wow.

I think you should just forget it all. Put a movie on for the kids and go take a nap. Tackle all that stuff tomorrow!

I like your thinking. If only the couch and television were visible…

Hi there! New commenter here. Have you ever heard of Fly Lady? She’s helped me organize my house in a big way. I’m not affiliated with her in any way so no ulterior motives here. Just wanted to share something that’s helped keep up with the chaos. Congrats on baby number 8!
Adrienne says
I have! I used Flylady’s methods for years, and still probably have more habits from her than I even know. It’s been years since I’ve read anything from her, but a refresher course might be in order. Typically, my house runs pretty decent, but things have been snowballing these last two weeks, and pregnancy pain isn’t helping. Nice to have you here!

I vote for the nap too. HA!! I can see how panic would be on the verge. You have accomplished a lot and still have to do more. Just take it a day at a time. Don’t wear yourself out any more than normal, right? HA!! How nice to have the dressers to put clothes in. It is good to hear from you.
My husband ask the other day if you had updated. I said no. His words were, she is going to have to go to time out. Just because she has 6 kids and expecting another one is no reason. I said I will tell her you said that. HAHAHAHA!! I can hit him if you want. He really likes to read your blog.

Tell him it’s seven and expecting another… Because dear Ellie #7 is causing quite a bit of the confusion around here! I so need to update my cover photo, but… Might as well wait for #8 at this point! Running behind is my life anymore. 🙁
Then again, time out might be okay. I can barely use the bathroom without interruption anymore!

I so remember my mom saying, “Can’t y’all just give me 5 minutes of peace while I use the bathroom!” (There were a bunch of us kids) I had no idea until I became a mom with a handful of kiddos that it really is not nice to talk to mom (or complain to mom) through the bathroom door every stinkin’ time she goes in there!
