Wednesday afternoon after I got discharged from the hospital I took some of the kids and my dog Pepper for a walk. We were having a great time, walking for almost two hours. I had Pepper on the leash and we were almost back to the house when the neighbor’s dog came up to sniff at us. Pepper went ballistic. She tried to bite the dog and when I grabbed her collar to stop her, she spun around and bit me on my thigh, through my pants. I had to pull her off because she didn’t let go. My thigh is twelve shades of purple in a 8” circle with teeth marks breaking the skin.
I didn’t want to do what I knew I had to do. Pepper was probably the nicest big dog we’ve ever had. She was starting to show promise of turning out decent and less of a naughty puppy. She’ll be 1 next month. I just paid the vet $200 to spay her and deal with issues caused by a nasty neighbor dog (not this neighbor or this dog).
We had to get rid of her. I can’t run the risk that she’d do the same thing to one of my kids. The little boys’ faces are about the same height as my thigh. That could have been horrific.
So… Pepper is gone. Eden’s dog Monty is here and has eight puppies. They’ll be finding homes in the coming weeks. I think, if we get anything, we’ll get a house dog. I have my heart set on a full size poodle but I doubt I’ll ever find one I can afford. Pretty hard for me to justify $1,000 for a puppy.
In the meantime, I’m just sad. I wish that didn’t have to happen.

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry he but you. I know it could have been worse but after all you are going through this was not a good thing. Glad he didn’t attack your kids.
