“Do this momma! Thanks. Now you have stripes!”
Stripes, wrinkles… I’ll call them stripes any day. I’ve earned them!
Easter was our first real holiday without Liberty. Eden was barely home. It was strange. I’m not sure I like this next phase we’re in.
We did make our traditional Resurrection Rolls. Funny how there’s a desire not to when they kids are not all here. I had to force myself to maintain the tradition anyway. The feeling that so much is over lingers always. The years of only littles are so far past.
We, like in my childhood, always hide a basket of candy for each kid to find. The threat was made to hide Liberty’s basket anyway, so that she may keep her record of finding her basket last. We didn’t, but it was a funny thought. Elliot took the honor of last this year. Much fun was had by all.
We hatched 16 chicks! Round two of having babies in my living room. I love the chickens, but definitely not this part. The little boys, though, will sit and watch them with intrigue. It’s like their own little show. That’s pretty fun.
The ducks are huge. I’m super curious why this isn’t a more popular meat. These birds are every big as heavy as my 12 week meat birds at butcher weight, 7-ish weeks in. That said, these are super cute and pets with eggs on the side one day. Not sure I could eat them. They’re full on quacking now, but still so super soft.
We should have baby rabbits next month. That’s been a process, getting babies big enough to start raising offspring for meat. I’m excited to get this show on the road!
And now, for a fresh chapter of Creed being super two: the brute was using the toilet, decided to check out under the tank lid, dropped the heavy porcelain lid, and it hit the back of the bowl on the way down. I thought, when hearing the story that I was about to hear how the lid broke. Nope. Blaine gets to play Mr Plumber and replace the toilet. It has a large hole. I’m super thankful for two bathrooms right now! Creed remains unscathed, which is nothing short of miraculous. His face boasted more scrapes and bruises than I could count last week from his shenanigans. The dentist took one look at him marching confidently through her office in his cowboy boots and blue jeans, face full of evidences of his lack of wisdom and super short hair from fixing his self imposed haircut and said, “You’re going to have your hands full with that one.” Yes ma’am. Don’t I know it.

He’s approaching three quickly! Next month. He’s so much fun. Life is crazy lately and updates are infrequent. I’m determined to be better about that!
