We bid on a house on auction today.
My dad found the house on a fluke. He took a different road when driving for work because the road he’d intended to take was under construction. The auction sign out front made him stop and take a photo. Blaine and I went and looked at it. We took my parents back to look at it again. Second opinions are good. And while covid – sick symptoms have gone, the lack of smell (and taste) remains. The house needed updating. It desperately needed new carpet. A smell surely existed, but neither Blaine nor I could smell it.
Mom was the only one who remained covid free in all this. She assured us the house had a smell.
Regardless, we decided it would work for our family. It has enough space. It is on almost six and a half acres. It has fabulous red outbuildings – an old dairy barn, chicken coop, hog shed, and grainery.
So today we went to the auction, with our top bid determined and hopes of having our own home again soon. Blaine got one bid in before it quickly went above our top number, ending $50k higher than what we wanted to spend on it.
That was disappointing. We know God has a plan for us, but this is the third house we’ve thought, even for a moment, that we might have for our own, only to have to walk away for various reasons.
Back to the camper. Back to a home that isn’t ours. Back to living at the mercies of others. Back to the drawing board.
It’s a frustrating feeling.

Bless your heart!! I know that has to be so disappointing. But… maybe there was a good reason. GOD sees the future and we only see now. PRAY HE has the perfect place for you all.

Do you know if the place was bought by a person or an LLC? I personaly know of a house in Prairie Village, KS, Johnson County that the owner was asking $260K for and an LLC paid $310k for. 68 years old, slab, 3 bedroom
2 car garage and small lot. Insane, even though it is in the Shawnee Mission East school district.
