This sweet girl turned five on Friday.
We celebrated her day with sticky buns, strawberry shortcake, and a trip to the chicken hatchery. We thought the little Jersey Giant that hatched a month ago needed friends. And we need egg layers.
Aren’t they cute? We got Barred Rocks, Silver Laced Black Wyandottes, and Easter Eggers. The Easter Eggers lay colorful eggs. And they make for adorable chicks with their puffy cheeks.
And suddenly the month old Jersey Giant chick seems… giant.
And I’m wondering why on earth she/he’s still living in my kitchen. And now he has 18 friends living next door to him in the kitchen.
Turns out, Elliot’s request for strawberry shortcake was really a request for strawberries. Next year, I’m just handing her a bowl of strawberries. Surely we can prop up candles in there if we get the sauce nice and thick.
It was a fun day. Ellie is thrilled to be five. She’s started kindergarten work last week, is loving learning to read, and is the best little momma to everyone who will let her. She is the best snuggler and loves her family with a passion. She’s also the one who says the funniest – and often embarrassing – things. Happy birthday, Elliot Adelaide. We love you, as you love to say, “up to the sky”.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Miss Ellie! So far to believe you are 5 already. Strawberry shortcake sounds like a good cake to have for a birthday. YUM! Hope you had a very good birthday.
