We went to the library yesterday. It had been months since we’d gone. Like… 6 months. At least.
Free kindle books and a multitude of books we own had me making excuses. Keeping track of the 40+ books we typically come home with is stressful. Taking time to go to the library when we’re in town is just one more thing. I just… didn’t.
In the time since we’ve last been, Charlotte learned to read pretty well. I’ve wondered, at the speed she reads, if she merely has every one of our 300 books memorized. Wonder no more of her actual skill… she read the ones at the library with just as much ease. Except ‘semicircle’. That word caught her up.
But. The kids have been seen without a book in hand for all of 3.4 minutes since we got home. It was dark by the time we left the library last night and they still tried to read in the van on the way home. This morning an alarm went off at 7am and five kids stumbled out to read some more.
Clearly, I’ve deprived them.

How wonderful they love to read. I was never a big reader and still not.

That is great! The fact that they love to read so much means that you are doing something right, momma!Keep it up! You are making me feel guilty though. I haven’t been in forever either. Oh-dear, it’s something we probably should do….
