Review: Bunnies by the Bay

A few weeks ago, Matisse from Bunnies by the Bay contacted me regarding doing a review. I headed over to their website and was thrilled at the opportunity to pick something! After much perusing, I selected Lily Mae’s Buddy Blanket and the Bunny Cuddle Me Blanket and Burp Set. The blanket and burp set is a set of two generous 47″ x 47″ square muslin blankets with two matching muslin burp cloths. While Ellie despises being swaddled, I did try – just to see if I could with this size blanket. I did it – all twenty pounds of Ellie wrapped and stayed put. Pretty impressive! (Ellie, though… not impressed.)

The muslin blankets arrived pretty soft, but I threw them in the wash – washing and drying muslin is oh so helpful in the softening process. They came out of the dryer perfect, and Ellie’s been loving on them ever since. The label on Lily Mae says spot wash while the website says machine wash and tumble dry low. I cringe at spot wash since Ellie’s known to put everything in her mouth, so I threw Lily in the wash and held my breath… perfect. I didn’t send it through the dryer, but washing didn’t harm her in the slightest. Ellie’s been chewing and drooling and sleeping with Lily Mae ever since – major score in the quiet toy that baby loves department. Lily accompanies us everywhere we go these days!

These blankets have become Ellie’s favorite. They’re soft, big, and have quickly become my favorite too. Even my dear husband told me I was to write a glowing review. I use them for a nursing cover when out and about and love how lightweight they are so that Ellie doesn’t get hot, but they still cover well to keep me from getting exposed. I prefer to just use a blanket to nurse under to eliminate the need to carry a nursing cover and a blanket – since we already have a blanket along, that’s just easier for me. I grab these every time. They’ve been perfect this summer to give Ellie a blanket that doesn’t make her too warm, but I don’t imagine that will change this winter. Every time I give Ellie her blanket, she buries her face in it and growls. It’s the funniest thing. I think she likes them!

I made the mistake of taking one in the stroller last weekend and it got caught in the stroller wheel. I could have cried. Ellie’s favorite blanket now boasts a patch with her name embroidered on it in an attempt to hide my mistake. Something tells me this patched blanket is going to be around a long, long time – and I’m going to be telling Ellie the story of how I almost ruined her favorite blanket and why it now has a less-than perfect patch in one corner. I went to the local craft store to find muslin to patch it with, and actually had to double the patch to match the thickness of the blanket. Quality – yes. Next time, though, I’m giving her one of the clean burp clothes to snuggle in the stroller instead so that it doesn’t fall down around the ground. They are the perfect little snuggle size and so soft too – and my stroller wheels are mean!

Bunnies by the Bay is definitely going on my list of favorite stores to watch. Looking through their items has been a blast and I’ve been nothing but pleased with the quality of the products I got to try. The Bunny Cuddle Me Blanket and Burp Set is listed for $42. Lily Mae’s Buddy Blanket is listed for $30, but is currently on sale for $22.50. Bunnies by the Bay has many, many other items from baby apparel to plush toys and books to some of the cutest little teethers I’ve seen. These little boots are so super cute and the Hoppy Hood Sweater looks beautiful. This little skirt set is adorable, and Elsie is the doll I was looking for when I searched to find my new niece her first doll. I wish I had seen it then! Oh my word, I could just keep going.
