Yesterday, we jumped in with school plans. I swore after last year’s first day of school, we’d have a run through the Friday before we started. We’d get books out, them put them back, label notebooks, check pencil and crayon stashes, make appropriate copies, and be ready come Monday.
We found out Sterling’s math book is missing. I haven’t gone looking for it.
I made zero copies.
We found out I’d forgotten to buy crayons. We decided the stubs we currently own will do for now.
We forgot to check pencils.
Liberty stood by and smirked because she cannot start until co-op starts September 1st. She sees her summer days stretching before her.
Ruby begged to start today. (Saturday)
I looked at our schedule, and cringed. Surely dress like a cow day at Chick-fil-a plans on Tuesday and eye doctor exams on Friday will mean we’ll need to postpone for another week.
Right?!
Ugh. Thing is, I’m the one dragging my feet here. The kids are thrilled. Strange, odd children.

The thought of school starting makes me cringe. I worked as a parador for almost 25 years. Subbed 5 years before that. I have been retired 4 years this past May. I LOVE being retired. To go back would be awful to me. HA! I adore all you homeschool moms for all you do. Your kids are getting more one on one time than they could ever get in a public school.

OOPS!! I admire you moms. HA!!

I can definitely understand why you’d be feeling overwhelmed. If you get a good schedule worked out, do share! I’m starting to think about ours but we’re no where near start time, just book buying time. We have way too much farm work going on to be able to start until September and even that is going to hard. It’s making me a little worried….Last winter when the weather was bad though we doubled up on school and got tons done and were able to finish the year early. Hoping for something like that again.
Try not to stress about it. I’ve only got 5 kids, and I’m not pregnant….yet, but for what it’s worth, here’s my advice. Pray about it-a lot! Make a schedule and if it’s a disaster, remake the schedule where it didn’t work. And remember to have joy and delight in your kiddos. That’s something I pray about often but you seem to be pretty good at it! You’ll get it, girl!
